St Bartholomew's Church is a grade 2 listed building in a conservation area of outstanding beauty. The church serves the community with regular Sunday and mid-week services. The church is a popular venue for weddings, baptisms, concerts and many community events.
Alongside everyday running costs, the church is currently faced with a significant repair bill, and we cannot meet these costs from our current income. We get no income from the government or the Church of England.
Everyone at St Bartholomew's Ripponden is working hard to raise money for the restoration fund. So far we've raised over £75,000 and have managed to carry out much needed work on the church steeple, but there is still a long way to go. We need to renew the roof and the windows, replace the heating system and some floor joists, and rewire the electrical system. We need as much community involvement as possible to raise this money, so please support our efforts in whatever way you can.
The church itself, a beautiful grade 2 listed building, is in need of urgent repairs. We pay for the church solely through the generosity of the parishioners and other churchgoers. Our best estimate for the cost of repairs is £400,000.
